Building Procedures and Pricing
Pre-Build:
We had to start by first building our prototype out of cardboard. This allowed us to see how the product would lay and what changes needed to be made to our design. We were able to change things easily because we had lots of cardboard to use and we used a hot glue gun which allowed us to sometimes pull it apart. Our final design turned out to be no where near our original design, so we were glad we used the cardboard first to test out our ideas. We found a way to build our product and make it able to collapse when it is not being used. Once you take it off your phone and it collapses, you are able to store it away. This was our biggest challenge when building and changing our design. Once we found our perfect design of the product made out of cardboard, it was time to make the real product out of a better material.
Step 1: Gather: cardboard, hard plastic, and flex seal.
Step 2: The estimated build time is two days because you have to allow it to dry.The equipment used was a hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, a knife to cut the cardboard, a cutting mat, a ruler, rubber gloves, and a paintbrush.
Step 3: 1. We started out by cutting two rectangles out of plastic and two trapezoids out of cardboard.
2. We then used the hot glue gun to put the pieces together how we wanted.
3. We then painted the whole prototype in flex seal after the hot glue had dried.
4. We then had to wait a day so they flex seal dried.
Step 4: We made two different prototypes to determine the right amount of flex seal to apply. We also changed the base of the prototype to make it easier to see the screen.
Step 5: Kyle helped us by giving us advice on how we should change our design so we thank him for his help. We also and thankful that Mrs. Carey was able to lend us he paint brushed to use for the flex seal. Finally we thank Mrs. Zienty for ordering our flex seal for us.
