Part K
My Reflection and Recommendations
I have learned many things during this project. Starting this project, Piper and I came up with so many different problems to solve. We decided to go with our problem of sun glare on your phone screen. We believed that many people experience this problem and would want a solution to it. We started by researching different existing solutions that were not as successful as they could have been. The whole time while researching all I could think of was how we were going to solve this problem. We knew of an idea of a design but did not know what material. When it came to building, our mentor told us to start with cardboard to test different designs. This worked very well and we were able to make two designs made completely out of cardboard. We then asked our mentor what material we should use and she did not get back to us until late so Piper then thought of the idea to cover the cardboard in flex seal. I thought this idea was very unique and would make the cardboard more appealing, water resistant, and more durable. We also added plastic to our final design to make it more functional. Overall, I believe Piper and I worked very well together and got the job done. I know our product was not the prettiest and practical, but we finished within the dead line and I thought we presented it very well. I enjoyed getting to learn all of these engineering skills over the past four years and then combining them all to complete this project. I think this project is such a cool and idea and is a neat experience for us students. Thank you for all of the support through this process as well as these past four years. I appreciate all that you have done and how much you care about each and every one of us. I honestly do not think I have had a better teacher that cares about us and wants us to succeed as much as you do. Thank you for everything Mrs. Z!
Piper's Reflection and Recommendations
When we started this project I was really excited to create something. I always watch shark tank on Sunday and it motivated me to come up with a perfect idea. I am glad we chose a problem we both experienced. I liked how we had to present because I am very quiet sometimes. I could not have chosen a better partner to help me through the ups and downs. I also am very impressed that thr cardboard models helped us so much. I loved every part of the weebly (even though we all complained about it). I love showing my family every time is see them. We also presented in almost the amount of time and we were proud and happy the entire time. Looking back on this project I am proud of what we have built, but I would change some of the materials and make it collapse better. I had a lot of fun working on this at my own pace and cannot wait to see how I use my time management skills in college. I can now say with full confidence I know how to use the design process from beginning to end. This project has inspired me to always think of ways to solve random common problems and hopefully I can make a lot of money off of one of the solutions. I love this course and I have enjoyed every year. I think it has bettered my ability to help me learn. I want to thank you for always believing in me and helping me through all of my struggles. I also want to say thank you for your patience with everyone in the class (I know this has been a struggle sometimes)!!!!!
